BUCKHANNON — On Tuesday, September 20, the Buckhannon Fire Department, located at 22 South Kanawha Street received a donation from the Buckhannon Elks Lodge No. 1736 located at 47 North Kanawha Street. The donation took place at the Buckhannon Fire Department at 2 p.m.

Jim Levier of the Buckhannon Elks House Committee presented the check to Buckhannon Fire Chief J.B. Kimble. Others present for the donation included Buckhannon Fire Department Captain Linn Baxa and Retired Assistant Chief Jerry Wilfong. Hank Ellis was also present.

The Buckhannon Elks donated a check in the amount of $750 to the Buckhanon Fire Department. Chief Kimble said, “The funds are going to be used is an upcoming swift water training at Audra State Park which runs Saturday October 1st through Sunday October 2nd.”

Captain Baxa noted, “The training is used for flood rescue which we do a lot of in the area.” Retired Assistant Chief Jerry Wilfong said, “This is a great organization and they are underappreciated and underpaid.” Having served years in the fire service, it was clear that Wilfong has a full heart for the local fire departments and was glad to be a part of the donation. Hank Ellis was present as the Elks assisted to raise funds through the Hank Ellis Senior Memorial Golf Tournament.
