Buckhannon Adult Soccer League rolls on

Buckhannon Adult League Soccer enters week four of 2018 season

BUCKHANNON – The Buckhannon Adult Soccer League continues its six-week season as players converge on the soccer field beside the State Police barracks.

The league is co-sponsored this year by the Upshur County Youth Soccer League and FC33.

“Soccer is a game for everyone,” remarked UCYS president Kevin Nicholson. “You don’t have to be the tallest, or the fastest or the most-talented to play. The mission of UCYS is to provide an opportunity to children to play the game and the Adult League is an extension of that. We want to be able to provide an opportunity for adults who still love the game. The league provides camaraderie, team unity and it’s a great atmosphere.”

The league has averaged about 35 players during their games which are played on Tuesday and Thursdays.

“I would like to see that number go up in the future,” Nicholson said. “I think there is a misconception that this is cutthroat competition. It’s not. It’s recreational soccer that is meant to be fun. These are adults that have to get up and go to work the next morning.”

The Adult Soccer League will conclude its season on Thursday, July 26.
