FAIRMONT — The Buckhannon Swim Club Splashers were back in action last Tuesday, July 5, traveling to compete in a tri-meet with the Fairmont Field Club and the Clarksburg Swim Team. Despite fielding a limited roster of participants, the Splashers still managed to make plenty of waves in the meet, earning nine event wins, as a group of younger Splashers turned in spectacular performances.

Young Gentry Roy stole the show, leading the way for the young Splashers by posting two strong times for his age group and picking up two consecutive, unopposed wins. In both the 6-under 25-meter Backstroke and the 25-meter Freestyle, Roy evidenced the hard work he has put in over the Summer, recording blazing times of 1:15.67 in the 15-meter Backstroke and 58.81 seconds in the 25-meter Freestyle. Thomas Wilsoncroft picked up third and final individual event win for the young group of Splasher boys, touching the wall in just 43.19 seconds in the 9-10 year old 50-meter Freestyle.

The Splasher girls fared slightly better, earning four individual event wins as Rylee Yardley, Berkeley Jeran, Madison Cutright, Aspen Manning each picked up an individual event win apiece.

Yardley was the sole individual winner for the Splasher girls in the 13 to 14 year old age division. Yardley picked up a win in the 100-meter Backstroke with a time of 1:37.50. Much like Yardley, Manning was the lone winner for the Splashers in her age group. Manning represented her absent 11 to 12 year old Splasher teammates well, winning the race to the wall in the 50-meter Backstroke, finishing with a time of 49.91 seconds, while Cutright cruised past the field in the 9-10 year old 25-meter Breaststroke, touching the wall in just 27.92 seconds to take home the win.

Jeran earned bragging rights in the 9 to 10 year old 50-meter Freestyle, turning in a time of 40.02 seconds. Jeran would later team with Cora Cottrill, Marishka Ware and Kara Hildreth to pick up the Splashers’ first relay win of the day, with a combined time of 1:27.09. The Splashers picked up a mixed relay win to wrap up the meet, as Yardley teamed with Liz Hurst, Brody Jeran and Karson Karickhoff in the mixed 200-meter medley relay with a time of

2:56.93 to win the Splashers last event of the evening.
