During the early morning hours on Aug. 16, 2017, members from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, the Buckhannon Police Department, and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Section conducted a joint covert drug operation at the Hampton Inn in Buckhannon. The defendant, Steven John Kacenski delivered two ounces of crystal methamphetamine to a confidential operative for $3,200, according to a press release from the Lewis County Sheriff's Department. Additionally, Kacenski was wanted on dangerous drug and child neglect charges out of Ohio. The defendant was charged with delivery of a controlled substance. An additional subject was present at the time of the arrest; Bryan Joseph Wanless accompanied the defendant, whom was found to be in possession of alprazolam and methamphetamine. Wanless was charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts.
