Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a famous martial art, combat sport and self-defense practice with an emphasis in grappling that can help you defend yourself efficiently. BJJ is an excellent way to relieve stress, enhance fitness, receive a full-body workout that doesn’t allow striking and teaches numerous life-changing lessons, including discipline, consistency and combat methods. The instructors are decorated BJJ athletes who work together to provide solid curriculum for each class. Former Pan American Champion Becca Marsh teaches the 5U Kids class for 4 to 6-year-old children, where they will learn basic movements that are important in the sport of Jiu-Jitsu.
Blue Belt James Jamison is the head instructor of the Youth BJJ Program for children ages 6 to 15 years old. Adult Gi and No Gi BJJ is instructed by Black Belt Professor Chad Marsh, who has podiumed in multiple IBJJF tournaments, most notably taking third place at the IBJJF Master Worlds in 2020. Professor Chad is a Black Belt under Professor Rob Nickerson of Reaction MMA and Former UFC Fighter Professor Jorge Gurgel, of Jorge Gurgel MMA. Youth and adult students are taught the mechanics and applications of positions and submissions, which includes using critical thinking, learning self-defense and self-discipline.
Classes incorporate fitness conditioning to each class, along with learning to apply techniques in sparring situations within the rulesets of sport Jiu Jitsu.
Students are provided the opportunity to compete at local and national level BJJ events and attend seminars to expand their knowledge of Jiu Jitsu from legendary instructors.
Functional Fitness class is currently being held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5:30 a.m. and taught by Professor Chad Marsh. Functional Fitness involves training the body for activities performed in daily life.
Classes include myriad of workouts that incorporate aerobic and resistance training with the goal to improve overall health of our members. When asked, Professor Chad said that he wants to make his students feel better mentally and physically so that everyday life is easier.
Body Armor welcomes the community to check out their new facility during their open house on Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30.
