Bobcats run 16th in debut at Bethany XC Invitational


BETHANY – The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat cross country team opened their 2019 season Saturday in Bethany running 16th out of 22 teams at the Bethany Invitational.

Ryan Webb was the top Bobcat runner placing 23rd out of 222 runners with a time of 27:52.1.

Wesleyan’s Brettley Harris finished 123rd (31:41.4), Tyler Channell placed 155th (33.25.5), Scott Soucier ran 34:17.5), Austin Gresser took 177th (34:52.7) and Destry Nelson placed 195th (37:00.6).

Franciscan’s Liam Galligan took top honors with a time of 25:57.6 while his teammate Mark Borek placed second with a clocking of 26:38.8.

Davis & Elkins took the next three spots as Matthew Chapman took third, Aidan Konhaus fourth and Scott Barker fifth.

Those three top five finishes gave the Senators the team crow with 50 points while Franciscan was second with 74 and Indiana (Pa.) was third with 84.

Wesleyan amassed 457 points.

The Bobcats will run again Saturday, Sept. 21 at Lock Haven.
