Bobcat swimmers splash past Frostburg State in home dual meet, 123-81

West Virginia Wesleyan’s Jackson Igo competed in an event for the Bobcats during their home meet with Frostburg State last Saturday. Wesleyan downed Frostburg State by a 123-81 score.

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat swim team held off the Frostburg State Bobcats for a 123-81 victory in a dual meet at the college’s Nataorium this past Saturday.

The ‘Cats, under head coach Adam Brumley, won eight events, earning seven individual wins and one relay victory.

Earning victories for the Bobcats were Arthur Assfeld in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.13) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.67), Logan Knoyer in the 50-yard freestyle (23.14), Jake Bohland in the 100-yard freestyle (52.29), Michael McAlpine in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.37), Santiago De Stefano in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.10) and Mikel Mugarza in the 200-yard IM (2:10.99).

The Wesleyan 400-yard medley relay team was also victorious.

Wesleyan will return to the pool this Saturday when they visit Canton (Ohio) to compete in the Malone Invite starting at noon.

Following that, they will compete in the two-day Corbiere-Merion Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan on Nov. 23-24.
