Bobcat swimmers open season with 1-1 mark

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s swim team opened their 2019 season going 1-1 in a home tri-meet with West Virginia Tech and Alderson Broaddus last Saturday.

Wesleyan won three events with Arthur Assfeld claiming two of them.

Assfeld won the 50-freestyle with a time of 21:41 and the 100-freestyle with a time of 47.40.

Michael McApline won the 100-backstroke with a clocking of 56.21.

Luke Feldhake claimed second in the 100-backstroke (1:02.56) while Nathan Swalley took second in the 100-butterfly (57.17).

Wesleyan was scheduled to compete in the West Virginia State games this past weekend in Morgantown.

They will return to the pool this Saturday against Frostburg State at 1 p.m.
