BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County girl’s 8 and under youth softball team, the Blue Lady Bucs, were back at it again on Friday, April 29. The team dominated their game against the 8-U Elkins Softball team, that took place in Buckhannon.
In the bottom of the first, Brynn Triplett hit an “in the park” homerun followed by a triple, placing the Lady Bucs in the lead. Henley Tiffner continued to add to the lead with two consecutive triples.
In the second inning, Aaliyah Shipley, daughter of Assistant Coach Justin Shipley, hit a triple followed by a double. During this time, Elkins brought three runners to the home plate, adding to the already impressive lead.
Twins Macey and Maddy Haskins helped maintain the lead for the Lady Bucs in the third inning, both collecting two singles. Logan Enke recorded two doubles and, while in the outfield, made some outstanding stops. Jada Mazarek hit two doubles, Oakley Moriarty recorded two singles and Riley James, daughter of Head Coach Jeremy Strader, recorded a single and a double.
Elkins claimed nine total points for their final score throughout the game, while Upshur County made a few more fantastic plays securing the win. Keri Snider added to the score with a triple and a double hit, Adalyn Kelley recorded two singles, Abrianna Ables also recorded a single and Makenah Hebb collected one double and two singles. Riley James and Logan Enke were strong defensive players, each collecting multiple outs for the Lady Bucs.
Assistant Coach Justin Shipley proudly exclaimed, “Each of our girls were able to create an out at some point in the game and a big shoutout to Brynn in the catcher’s position with some great plays at the home plate.”
The final score ended in the Little Lady Bucs favor, 24-9.
The Blue Lady Bucs next game is scheduled for Saturday, May 7 in Gilmer County at noon. Good luck Blue Lady Bucs!
