Betty Lou Roberts, age 78 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday morning, July 3, 2021, in the West Virginia Caring Hospice Center at Elkins.
She was born March 14, 1943, at McHenry, MD, a daughter of the late Arthur Charles and Margaret Marie Sebold Savage. On November 17, 1962, at McHenry, MD, she was married to E. Junior Roberts, who preceded her in death September 22, 2017.
Surviving is one son, Everett Dwayne Roberts and wife Debbie of Buckhannon; two grandchildren, Douglas Dwayne Roberts and Dianna Christine Roberts of Buckhannon; one brother, Harold “Bud” Savage, of Bear, Delaware; one sister, Shelby Jean Paugh of McHenry, MD.
Also preceding her in death was one sister, Lucille Glotfelty; sister-in-law, Agnes Savage; and brothers-in-law, Roy Glotfelty and Bennett Dale Paugh.
Betty was a 1961 graduate of Northern High School in Accident, MD. She retired from the United States Forest Service where she last worked as Human Resources Director. Betty loved working at their farm with her family, and in 2005, they were awarded the Conservation Farmer of the Year Award. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Past President of the Women’s Club of Elkins, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and Circle One of the Church. She loved sewing and quilt making.
Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2021, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brian Seders officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 315 Kerens Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Betty.
