Betty Jean Shock, 93, of Helvetia, went to sleep on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Webster County Memorial Hospital in Webster Springs.
She was born in McWhorter on December 2, 1927, a daughter of the late Scott Wilson Baker and Nora Bell Nicholson Baker.
On March 31, 1951, Betty married the love of her life, Herbert Lee Shock. They shared 32 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on August 31, 1983.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by two infant children; three brothers; and three sisters.
Forever cherishing their memories of Betty are two children: Scott Herbert Shock and wife, Linda, and Wanda Jean Scott and husband, William Jr., both of Helvetia; three grandchildren: Barry Lee Scott and wife, Christy, Courtney Beth Scott, and Angie Nicole Scott; two great-grandchildren: Levi and Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Buckhannon. She spent her days as a homemaker caring for her home and family. Betty was an extremely hard worker and in addition to her home and family, she tended to her farm in Helvetia. She performed several tasks including but not limited to gardening, canning, baking homemade bread, and milking cows to prepare butter and cottage cheese, all on a regular basis.
Betty had the most caring and loving heart and was always there for her family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
A Graveside Service will be held at Pickens Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021, with Pastor Rick Cutright officiating. Interment will follow.
