Betty J. (Hollen) Booth


Betty J. (Hollen) Booth, age 89, of Buckhannon, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 5, 2021, passing away peacefully at home.

She was born on December 16, 1931, in Casey County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James Sterling and Gladys Irene Pierce Hollen.  On October 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to Richard Booth, who survives. Also left to cherish her memory are her three children:  Richard (Steve) Booth and wife, Lisa, Rebecca and husband, Timothy Sapp, and Ronnie Booth and wife, Jamie, all of Buckhannon; four grandchildren:  Austin Curry, of Clarksburg, Noah Curry, of Buckhannon, Roger Booth, of Buckhannon, and Aiden Booth, of Buckhannon; two step-grandchildren:  Stephen James, of Buckhannon, and Michaela (James) Cody, of Huntington; one sister, Joyce (Hollen) Hoover and husband, Pat, of Buckhannon; one brother, Pete Hollen and wife, Kay, of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters:  infant Betty Fern Hollen, Doris (Hollen) Crawford, and Virginia “Ginny” (Hollen) Gillespie; and one brother, Rick Hollen.

Betty was a loving wife and mother and loved to share precious memories with her brothers and sisters. She worked at the A&P in Buckhannon for 27 years and at the Adrian-Buckhannon Bank for 13 years.

Special thanks and appreciation are extended by the family to West Virginia Hospice for their excellent care and caregivers Clara Kelley, Helen Shields, Donna Zirkle, and John Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 6-8:00 p.m., at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
