Benjamin Dale Thomason

BUCKHANNON — Benjamin Dale Thomason, 75, of French Creek, W.Va. died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, W.Va. He was born April 22, 1942 in Fredericksburg, Va, a son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Media Dale Cutright Thomason. On May 26, 2000 he married Donna D. Smith who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Gay and husband Jon of French Creek and Audria Thomason of Morgantown, W.Va.; one son, Eric Thomason and wife Kim of Rock Cave, W.Va.; four stepsons, Christopher Koon and Jodi of Buckhannon, Steven Koon and wife Lori of Lafayette, Ind., Travis Koon and wife Darlene of Buckhannon and Brandon Koon of Cross Lanes, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Delores Shackleford and husband Jerry of King George, Va. and two brothers, Rodney Thomason and wife Lorraine of Fredericksburg and Jerry Thomason and wife Vivian of Lewes, Delaware.

Mr. Thomason attended the Way of Holiness Church and was an avid supporter of the W.Va. National Guard. Both he and his wife, Donna, received special recognition for their support of the National Guard.

Mr. Thomason was a school teacher and for most of his teaching career taught vo-tech and shop, but retired as an eighth grade science teacher.

He was also the owner and operator of Thomason Lumber Company in French Creek. Mr. Thomason was a very gentle, compassionate, caring and loving husband.

Friends will be received today, Dec. 11, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at The Way of Holiness Church. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at The Way of Holiness Church with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tallmansville, W.Va.
