Basketball Little Bucs cruise past Lincoln, 47-28

TENNERTON – Shawn Blandino shredded the nets for 19 points here last Thursday night to pace the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Buccaneers to a 47-28 triumph over Lincoln’s Wildcats in a varsity match-up.

The Little Bucs took an 8-7 first-period lead on two buckets apiece by Zach Calef-Boring and Blandino.

Mark Hurst bombed in a pair of 3-pointers, Ian Donnen fired in another, and Blandino banged in two traditional goals to give the second quarter to the Little Bucs by a 13-6 margin. They entered the half with a 21-13 advantage.

With Calef-Boring and Donnen canning two baskets each, and Blandino adding three points, the Little Bucs put the game out of reach with a 11-4 third canto that increased their lead to 15, at 32-17.

They closed out with a 15-11 fourth period, with Blandino showing the way with a four-bucket spree.

Rounding out their scoring were Calef-Boring with 10 points, Donnen with seven, Hurst with six, Chase Spencer with three, and Josh Nesbitt and Wade Nesbitt each with one.

Coach Tyke Foster’s Little Bucs upped their record to 8-5 heading into Monday’s home game with Washington Irving. They will play host to Taylor County tonight.
