Basketball Little Buccaneers win by forfeit over Central Preston; tumbles to Taylor County, 41-20

GRAFTON – It was a crazy two days for the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Bucs when they faced off against Central Preston and Taylor County.

The contest with Central Preston ended in a forfeit win for the Little Bucs.

Central Preston’s head coach received a pair of technical fouls with 4:19 left in the fourth quarter.

The two technical fouls were an immediate ejection, and without another coach to take over for Central Preston, they were forced to end the game while leading by a 32-30 score.

A day later in Grafton, the Little Bucs lost a 41-20 decision.

The Little Bucs trailed after one quarter by an 11-3 score with the only scoring coming from Ian Strader with two points and Jaden Westfall a free throw.

The Little Bucs were doubled up by Taylor County in the second quarter by a 14-7 score.

Jonas Barton scored five points in the quarter while Nathaniel Ringer had two points.

That left the Little Bucs down by a 25-10 score.

Jaden Westfall and Ringer each had a basket for the Little Bucs in the third stanza which went to Taylor County by a 10-4 margin.

The last quarter was all even at 6-6 with Eli Boggs, Ryan Kelley and Strader each dropping in a basket for the Little Bucs.

Barton led the Bucs with five points.

Isaiah Vanscoy had 16 points to lead Taylor County.

The split left the Little Bucs with a 4-8 record.

They will return to action Thursday when they visit Mountaineer (Morgantown) at 7:30 p.m.
