Basketball Little Buccaneers fall at home to Washington Irving, 45-21

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Buccaneers had trouble getting their offense in gear here Jan. 14 and tumbled to Washington Irving’s Hilltoppers by a 45-21 spread in a varsity clash.

The loss put their record at 8-6 going into Thursday night’s home match-up with Mountaineer (Morgantown).

The Little Bucs got three points from Shawn Blandino and a bucket from Zach Calef-Boring and trailed by  14-5 count after one quarter.

With Blandino and Mark Hurst tallying five markers apiece, the Little Bucs took the second period by a 10-8 edge.

But the final two quarters belonged to the Hilltoppers by 10-5 and 13-1 margins.

Blandino led the Little Bus with 10 points, with Hurst following with eight. Calef-Boing and Chase Spencer added two and one, respectively.

Charles Hawkins paced Washington Irving with 13 points, with Quinton Cooley canning 11.
