Basketball Lady ‘Cats fall on day two of PSAC/MEC Challenge to Indiana (Pa.)


INDIANA (Pa.) – Following their impressive win in their debut in the PSAC/MEC Challenge last Saturday, the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats couldn’t keep that momentum going on day two Sunday in a clash with Indiana (Pa.) University.

The Lady Bobcats dropped a 96-44 decision.

The game was never in doubt as Indiana (Pa.) took a commanding 27-6 lead after the first 10 minutes of action.

The Crimson Hawks extended their lead to 53-23 at the half.

It never got any better for Wesleyan in the second half as I.U.P. extended their lead to 77-34 after three quarters of action and wound up winning by 52.

Nicole Gilyard was the lone Lady Bobcat to reach double digits as she scored 10 points.

Malaika Kimmons had nine points and four rebounds.

Abi Gabauer finished with five points and one steal for Wesleyan.

Wesleyan shot just 24.5 percent from the floor hitting on 12 of their 49 attempts.

Justina Mascaro had a game-high 19 points for Indiana (Pa.) while Natalie Myers had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady ‘Cats (1-1) will return to action Saturday when they host Shippensburg at 2 p.m.
