TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs will host the Buckhannon-Upshur Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament today and Saturday.

The Lady Bucs will host Brooke, Spring Mills and Spring Valley in two days of basketball action.

Buckhannon-Upshur (3-4) will face Brooke (3-4) in the feature game tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Spring Mills (2-3) will square off against Spring Valley (1-6) in the preliminary game at 5:45 p.m. today.

The championship game will be played Saturday at 11:45 a.m. with the consolation game being played at 10 a.m.

The Lady Bucs will enter the game attempting to end a two-game losing streak after dropping games to No. 1 AA North Marion and University.

“We just have to do some of the little things better,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Rob Kittle. “We need to make some plays, make some shots and close them out defensively. Brooke is going to be a tough game. They are in our region and every regional game is going to be tough. Hopefully we can turn them over and be able to finish on our own end.”

Kittle said he and his team are looking forward to hosting the tournament.

“It’s great to host the tournament,” Kittle said. “For one we don’t have to travel over the holidays which is always nice. It’s nice to be able to showcase our team and our city to others and we are bringing in teams like Spring Valley and Spring Mills that people in our area haven’t seen play.”

Following the Holiday Classic, the Lady Bucs will return to action Friday, Jan. 4 when they host Grafton at 7:30 p.m.
