Baseball Bobcats fall to Ashland, 13-0


KISSIMMEE (Fla.) – The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat baseball team had issues getting their offense going against Ashland and pitcher Perry Bewley.

Wesleyan mustered just two hits, a pair of singles by Eric Forbrick and Kolby Wolfe, in a 13-0 setback.

Bewley ended up going six innings and walked just one and fanned 10.

Ashland lit up Wesleyan starter Kyle Riggleman for four runs in the bottom of the first for a 4-0 lead.

The game remained at 4-0 until the bottom of the fifth when Ashland chased across five runs for a 9-0 lead.

They added four more in the bottom of the sixth inning for their 13 runs.

Riggleman went five innings and gave up 13 earned runs on 16 hits while walking six and striking out two.

Logan Moss led the Ashland offense with three hits and four RBIs while Jason Swope collected three hits and three RBIs.

The loss left Randy Tenney’s squad with a 3-7 record heading into Wednesday afternoon’s doubleheader with Wheeling Jesuit.

They were slated to play Minnesota State University-Mankato Thursday.

Wesleyan will conclude play in Florida this weekend.

They will face the University of Mary today in a doubleheader starting at 3:45 p.m. and will wrap up their spring break tour Saturday playing the University of Minnesota-Crookston at 9:15 a.m.
