BAES holds drive-thru “Winter Wonderland”

BUCKHANNON — Santa made a visit to Buckhannon Academy Elementary School (BAES) on Monday evening, greeting students and parents in a drive-thru style “Winter Wonderland” event.

Due to COVID-19, students were unable to attend in-person Christmas parties at school this year. Buckhannon Academy’s faculty and staff took the initiative to instead host a holiday event that students and their families could enjoy from a safe social distance.

The “Winter Wonderland” event was fully decorated with lights, where they provided class ornaments and cookies, as well as a visit with Santa himself.

In addition, each BAES student received a gift! From 5:30-7:30 p.m., tons of parents arrived with their children to celebrate the Holidays safely.

Mrs. Tahsha Carpenter, a teacher at Buckhannon Academy, shared her appreciation for the event.  Carpenter expressed, “Our Winter Wonderland event was a great way for us to get to see our students in person. We really miss them! The students loved the evening. They were so excited. I’m glad we could hold this activity and give them some fun during the pandemic.”
