B-U’s Robinson repeats as Big 10 Player of the Year

Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc softball player Alli Robinson was named the Big 10 Conference Player of the Year for the 2019 season. It was the second straight season Robinson accomplished this honor. During the season, she hit .457 with a team-leading 11 home runs and 48 RBIs. Joining her on the All-Conference team were freshman Alyssa Rohr and senior Audrey Gaudet.

TENNERTON – Three Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc softball players were included as part of the 2019 Big 10 All-Conference softball team.

Alli Robinson took the top honor the conference has to give as the Player of the Year

Joining her were freshman Alyssa Rohr on the First Team and Audrey Gaudet on the Second Team.

Robinson, a senior shortstop, earned Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive year.

During her senior year, she led the softball team with 11 home runs and 48 runs-batted-in.

The 11 home runs and 48 RBIs are the most ever for a B-U player in a single season.

She was second on the team in batting average with a .457 average with 31 of her 42 hits going for extra bases in 30 games played.

She collected 13 doubles and two triples to go along with her 11 home runs.

Robinson drew a team-high 23 walks while striking out just six times in 92 at-bats.

She scored 48 runs which is the second best mark in team history.

As a junior, she hit .567 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs.

Rohr was named to the First Team as a shortstop.

She led the team in batting with a .495 average collecting 45 hits in 91 at-bats.

The .495 average was the fourth-highest batting average in B-U history.

She hit five doubles and four triples while driving in 15 runs in 26 games.

She was also the ace of the team posting a 10-5 record with an earned-run-average of 2.46. in 85 1/3 innings pitched.

Gaudet was selected to the Second Team as a utility player.

She was third on the team in hitting with a .402 average.

In 30 games she collected 35 hits including a pair of doubles and knocked in 17 runs.

Pitcher of the Year honors went to Lincoln’s Maddi Andrick while Freshman of the Year honors went to Liberty’s Emma Kyle.

Steve Swiger of East Fairmont was named the Coach of the Year.
