TENNERTON — Christian Boggs will get one more opportunity to represent Buckhannon-Upshur High School on the gridiron in Saturday’s North-South All-Star Classic.
Boggs was a standout offensive-defensive lineman for coach Duane Stoeckle during his playing days for the Bucs. He was part of two Class AAA state playoff teams and earned both all-state and all-Big 10 Conference honors.
“I’m glad to see Christian get the opportunity to play in the North-South game,” Stoeckle said. “He was a late addition and has been down there practicing with [the North team] all week.”
The 5-10, 225-pound Boggs, who also excelled in wrestling and lacrosse at B-UHS, has signed to play football at West Virginia Wesleyan College in the fall.
Marcus Lofton, who participated in track and field this past spring at Wesleyan, took part in last year’s North-South game for the Bucs, recording an interception in the North’s 42-35 victory.
Other area players scheduled to play on the North squad include Lewis County wide receiver-defensive back Nate Frazier, Liberty lineman Skyler Eastman, University linemen Noah Feagin and Peyton Powrozkik and running back-defensive lineman Isaiah Utt, Robert C. Byrd lineman Geno Messenger, Bridgeport running back-linebacker Seth Friel and South Harrison lineman Corey Fowler.
Wheeling Park’s Chris Daugherty will serve as the North head coach.
The contest will begin at 7 p.m. at Charleston’s Laidley Field.
