B-UMS Cross Country teams wrap up successful season

BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School (B-UMS) boys and girls Cross Country teams wrapped up a successful 2022 fall season. With 14 seventh grade runners returning next year, B-UMS is set to have a bright future ahead of them, filled with experience and talent.  

This year, the B-UMS Cross Country girls team consisted of 20 runners from multiple grade levels. The girls’ team finished their season as runners-up in the Mid-Mountain 10 Atlantic Conference for the 2022 season. The team competed in a total of eight races, placing first in three races and runners-up in another three races. Overall, the girls’ team had a very successful season and, with the returning runners, their future is very bright. 

The Buckhannon-Upshur boys Cross Country also competed in eight races for the fall 2022 season. The team consisted of 9 male runners, from multiple grade levels, this season. The B-UMS boys finished a conference race in first place, finishing as runners-up in an additional two races. 

The combined B-UMS Cross Country teams were presented with individual awards, following the completion of their season. The recipients of the awards are as follows:

• Girl’s MVP was presented to Madison Knabenshue

• Boy’s MVP was presented to Kenton Stump

• Most Improved Boy was presented to Kash Bishop

• Most Improved Girl was presented to Chloe Lewis

• Rookie of the Year was awarded to Angelina Winter

• Most Spirit was presented to LenaRose Walker
