BUCKHANNON— Super Tuesday’s return to school wasn’t just exciting for the teachers and students. Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School’s therapy dog, Ollie, was thrilled to celebrate his 3rdbirthday party as his favorite kids returned to the classroom.
Ollie’s owner, Mrs. Deborah Shapiro expressed, “He turned inside-out with excitement when he saw the kids this morning!”
This is Ollie’s third year at the middle school, where he provides comfort, love, trust and ease to students (and teachers) who need him. He has been working with students at B-UMS since he was just 8 weeks old, and he has built countless friendships since then.
One of Ollie’s closest relationships is with an eighth-grade student who has been there for all of his birthdays. The student admitted, “I was actually excited getting to school today. I couldn’t wait to see him!”
Ollie was treated with lots of hugs, kisses, and adorable “pupcakes” during his party, by students and staff who were happy to return the love that Ollie has shown to them.
