B-UHS to host 18th Annual Hall of Fame Induction

TENNERTON — The Hall of Fame Class of 2021will be inducting students at the 18th Annual Induction Banquet on Saturday May 14, 2022. The banquet will take place at the B-U High School at 6 p.m.  

The purpose is to give recognition to individuals who have contributed in an extraordinary and/or distinguished manner to enhance the rich athletic tradition of Buckhannon-Upshur High School. 

In order to be eligible, former student athletes can only be considered 10 years after their class graduates. A nomination for the B-UHS Athletic Hall of Fame may be submitted by any person with an interest in or knowledge of athletics at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. All nominations must be submitted in writing to the B-UHS Athletic Director on the adopted form. 

Inductees include:

Matt McDaniels – B-U graduate 1997, 3-sport athlete football, basketball, and baseball, earned 9 varsity letters

William “BJ” Phillips – B-U graduate 1978, 3-sport athlete football, basketball, baseball, earned 7 varsity letters

Susan Goodwin Hershelman – B-U graduate, 2010, 4-sport athlete soccer, basketball, track, and tennis, earned 11 varsity letters

Tim Squires– B-U graduate 2010, swimming – 6-time State Champion, 4-time All American, WVU swimmer who qualified for the Olympic Trials

David Conley – B-U graduate 1999, All-State track and field, High point at State Meet in 1999, soccer 1995

Banquet tickets will NOT be sold at the door. If you wish to purchase tickets, you can do so at the Buckhannon-Upshur High School office for $15 per ticket. Monica Smith, secretary of athletics, will be able to assist you.
