GRAFTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur High School boys’ soccer team played an away game at Grafton High School Thursday.
The Bucs weren’t able to make any goals this game, ending with a score of 1 – 0 with Grafton coming out on top.
Despite the loss, B-U Coach Mike Donato kept a positive outlook and never lost faith in the team. He stated, “Our slow start tonight ended up hurting us throughout the game. You could tell by the way our guys played, the intent was there and it seemed like we knew what we wanted to do, but got slowed down by a bad pass, or a poor touch on the ball, or lack of communication—all things within our control.”
The only goal made during the game was executed by Grafton’s Layne England in the 16th minute. During the second half, Donato said the Bucs showed some great opportunities for scoring, but just couldn’t seem to get the ball in the goal. Some injuries caused a shift in the lineup, so after some recovering, the boys Bucs will be ready to take on Liberty High School September 14, 2021 for a home game.
