B-UHS Hall of Fame Committee announces Class of 2021

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Athletic Hall of Fame Committee announced the Class of 2021 that will be enshrined into the B-U Athletic Hall of Fame this fall.

Making up the class of 2021 will be David Conley, Susie Godwin Hershelman, Matthew “Matt” McDaniels, William “BJ” Phillips and Timothy “Tim” Squires.

Conley was a 1999 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur where he was an All-State track and field performer for the Bucs and garnered high point honors at the 1999 state track meet.

He ran track and field from West Virginia Wesleyan from 1999-2003.

Godwin Hershelman was a 2010 graduate from Buckhannon-Upshur where she excelled as a four-sport athlete in soccer, basketball, track and tennis.

She earned 11 varsity letters at Buckhannon-Upshur.

McDaniels was a 1997 graduate from Buckhannon-Upshur where he was a three-sport standout in football, basketball and baseball earning nine varsity letters.

Phillips was a 1978 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur and was a star athlete in three sports – football, basketball and baseball, where he earned seven varsity letters.

Squires was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur in 2010 and is considered was one of the school’s best ever swimmers.

He was a six-time state champion and was a four-time high school All-American in swimming.

He swam collegiately at WVU and qualified for the Olympic trials.

The induction banquet will be held on Saturday, Oct, 16 at the high school.
