BUCKHANNON — Buckhannon-Upshur High School will hold their in-person 2020 Graduation ceremony on Friday at 6 p.m. Parents and guardians will be allowed on the bleachers at 5:20 p.m. B-UHS is recommending each parent or guardian to wear a mask.
All attendees must have a ticket, including seniors, parents and guardians, faculty members and staff included. Tickets must be shown at the checkpoint before entering B-U Drive from the main road.
The high school will be following Governor Justice’s guidelines to ensure the safety of all involved. Designated individuals will assist with parking and guide the parents and guardians to their specific areas in the bleachers to ensure safe social distance spacing. At the end of the ceremony, the designated individuals will also dismiss the parents and guardians of the graduates from the bleacher area in an organized manner.
Guidelines have also been established if the ceremony is forced to move to the Buckhannon-Upshur Auditorium due to rain. If the ceremony is held in the auditorium, scheduled times for seniors will be given for receiving their diploma in their cap and gown.
Seniors will meet to practice for the ceremony on Friday morning at the field at 10 a.m. All graduating seniors must show up to the practice in order to participate in the ceremony.
