GREENSBORO, N.C. —Even after the conclusion of the 2022 track season, Buckhannon-Upshur High School junior track standout Jordan Gillum looks for ways to work on his craft. The dedicated young runner and his family traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina recently on June 17, 18 and 19 allowing him to compete in the the three-day Adidas Outdoor Nationals event.
In order to qualify for the Adidas Outdoor Nationals event, athletes either had to meet prerequisite times for the divisions or must have competed in their own state’s championships in the last school year. As such, Gillum was one of only a handful of the 78 boys that qualified for the 800-meter event to be an underclassman.
After his first run of the event, Gillum proved himself to be more than up to the chalk, qualifying on the championship elite-level, placing in the top ten. To follow that up, Gillum outdid his qualifying performance by earning seventh in the championship-elite level race. Jordan’s outstanding performance at this national event proved that the Buckhannon-Upshur track athletes and teams can compete with anyone, anywhere.
