ELKINS — The Forest Festival Invitational hosted 10 schools for a cross country race on Saturday in Elkins. Buckhannon-Upshur High School took first place out of the 10 schools and the Buccaneers cross country team placed three runners in the top 10.
Jordan Gillum ran second with a time of 18:49.48, while Reis Leonard secured fifth with a run time of 20:25.78. Jack Waggy came in sixth, just behind Leonard, with a run time of 20:34.65.
Charlie Smoak of Elkins High School won the individual title with a run time of 18:15.89. He placed first out of 79 runners.
B-UHS’ total score was a 38, taking the top at first place for the Invitational. Elkins placed second with a 44, and North Marion took third with a 94.
