B-UHS celebrates a “Night at the Oscars”

BUCKHANNON — On Saturday, April 30, prom-goers were treated like celebrities as they walked down the red carpet to their “Night at the Oscars”-themed prom.

The Buckhannon-Upshur High School (B-UHS) 2022 Prom was celebrated at The Event Center at Brushy Fork. The fabulous event was live-streamed to the B-UHS Facebook page complete with capturing grand entrances and red-carpet interviews. Upshur Cinema 6 even donated movie posters to be used as décor.

B-UHS shared the following on their Facebook page prior to the event. “The stars will be out for our “Night at the Oscars” prom this Saturday night, and we’ll be there to live stream [on Facebook] the action from the red carpet (yes, a real red carpet)!” The post then prompted outside viewers to tune in before the beginning of the event to see interviews with the attendees and to catch the “Best Entrance” awards, where the three couples or individuals with the best wedding reception-style [funny dance] entrance would receive their own “oscar” trophy.

B-UHS junior Graci Ketterman attended the red-carpet and shared the following comment, “Prom was so much fun, definitely something I will remember for a while.” Ketterman submitted a photo of her and fellow Junior classmates who attended prom.

Congratulations to Seniors Alexa Davis and Caden Andrick for being crowned B-UHS Prom Queen and King!
