BUCKHANNON — Miranda Greene and Bryson Johnston are the Buckhannon-Upshur Athletes of the Week.
Player #11, Miranda Greene is a senior at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. She is the daughter of Jamie and Misty Greene, of Buckhannon. Miranda plays on the Lady Bucs lacrosse team as well as a defender on the Lady Bucs soccer team. She is coached by her father and is a key contributor to the B-UHS girls lacrosse team who finished #1 in their division this year.
Miranda received the 2021 All American Attack Player Award for high school lacrosse this season. She also earned the All American Honor Award her junior year after her 2021 lacrosse season.
During her junior year, she tallied 96 goals making her first in the state again, with a total of 175 goals in just two seasons. Miranda totaled 110 points in the state and was ranked 26th nationally in goals and 66th nationally in points. She was 5th in the state with 61 ground balls and 8th in the state for having 14 assists. Miranda once again received the First Team Honors as the WVSLA First Team All-State Attack Player and was selected for the 2021 All Star Team.
Player #8, Bryson Johnston is a sophomore at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. Bryson is one of the key
contributors as the quarterback, safety, and punter for the B-UHS football team.
Bryson has scored two touchdowns for the Bucs this season—one from a huge 99-yard pick 6 interception touchdown return against Philip Barbour High School and the other as the quarterback keeper against Ripley High School.
Bryson also recorded another nice 40-yard touchdown interception return against Lewis County High School along with a 25-yard punt return.
