B-UHS Athlete of the Week 3-26-2022

Isaac Lane

Senior Pitcher, Shortstop

Lane has had an amazing start to the 2022 season for head coach Adam Squires starting with the season opener against University back on Friday, March 18. 

Lane got the start at pitcher for the Buccaneers, recording 2.2 innings pitched, throwing 66 total pitches, including 44 total strikes. Lane struck out 3 Hawk batters of the 17 he faced faced, while only allowing 7 total hits, 7 runs, 3 of which were earned runs allowed. 

Offensively, Lane complemented his solid pitching outing by going 1-4 from the plate, scoring 1 run, while only striking out once. 

He followed that up with another great game against Preston County, last Tuesday, March 22; again batting 1-4, scoring 1 run, and registering an RBI. 

Lane finished his week up by going yard against North Marion Thursday, March 24, marking the first home run of the 2022 season for the Buccaneers.

Samantha Shreve

B-UHS Track Freshman 4x800, 800-meters, 1600-meters

Shreve, a freshman kicked off her high school track career with a bang, winning the 1600-meter distance event with a final time of 5:42.52, nearly 15 seconds faster than Baylee Jarrett’s (Richwood) second-place time of 5:57.02. 

In the 800-meter event, Shreve finished second with a time of 2:36.56, then followed that up by playing a pivotal role on the 4x400-meter relay team, which also took second-place with a time of 4:44.31.
