B-UHS Athlete of the Week 12-16-21

Senior, #14, PG/SG

Harrison Walker

Last week, returning senior combo guard, Harrison Walker, starred in the Bucs’ season opening upset win over #8 Wheeling Park. Walker showed poise as he notched 24 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds against Patriots. The senior followed that performance up with a 19 point, 2 assists and 3 rebound outing in a loss to the Morgantown Mohicans. With his play this week, Walker has seamlessly stepped into an expanded role this year. Look for the senior to accomplish big things, as a focal point in the Bucs’ most hyped season to date!

Freshman, #22, SF/PF,

Alyssa Abel

It didn’t take freshman forward, Alyssa Abel, very long to adapt to speed of the high school game in either volleyball or basketball. In her first high school basketball action, Abel scored 13 points and pulled down 5 rebounds, proving to be a steady hand for the Lady Bucs off the bench. The freshman followed up her strong debut performance with an even more impressive feat, a double-double in a win over rival Lewis County. Abel scored 16 points and 10 rebounds, proving to be a source of instant offense for the Bucs. It will be tough to keep this freshman off the court as the season progresses, if Abel keeps this level of play up.
