B-UHS Athlete of the Week 1-6-2022

Ian Strader, #23, Junior Forward

Junior forward Ian Strader had an outstanding week, com-ing off the bench to provide a much-needed spark for the Bucs varsity squad. First he scored 6 points, pulled down 5 rebounds, and recorded a pair of steals against the Preston Knights. He followed this up with his best game of the sea-son so far against rival Lewis County, when he recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Cadence Vincent, Junior Swimmer

The recent University of Alabama commit set a school record as a part of of a strong home quad meet last week against Elkins, Nitro, and Sissonville. The state’s top girl swimmer continues her run of dominance for head coach Michael Roessing’s Bucs. Thus far this season, the defending Big 10 Conference and West Virginia state champion in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle has taken the pool by storm, starting the season with a string of wins to open the 2021-22 season. The Junior swimmer’s aims to continue to establish her-self as one of the nation’s top female swimming prospects in the upcoming meet against Wheeling Park, Morgantown, and Barnesville in Wheeling January 12, 2022.
