B-U soccer teams fare well in 7v7 Kevin Carney Soccer Tournament

Buckhannon-Upshur Blue finished runner-up in the Kevin Carney 7v7 Soccer Tournament last weekend in Fairmont. FAIRMONT – Two Buckhannon-Upshur High School soccer teams competed in the 10th annual Kevin Carney 7v7 Soccer Tournament at East-West Stadium in Fairmont as part of their off-season summer  practice sessions.

The Buckhannon-Upshur Blue Team had a runner up finish.

They went 1-1 in group play, losing to Parkersburg Red 2-1 and defeating Bridgeport 4-0.

In knockout play, B-U Blue defeated both St. Albans 6-2, Point Pleasant Red 6-2, and Buckhannon-Upshur White 4-2.

The boys had a rematch with Parkersburg Red in the championship, where they fell by a score of 3-1.

The Buckhannon-Upshur White team had a top four finish.

They won their group with a 2-0 record in group play, defeating Williamstown 3-1 and Woodrow Wilson 4-0.

B-U White then beat Point Pleasant Black in the first game knockout play 6-1 to advance to the semifinal against Buckhannon-Upshur Blue, where they fell by a score of 4-2.
