B-U golfers defeat Lewis County and Preston in tri-match

WESTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur golf Buccaneers continued to shine during the early part of their schedule as they won a tri-match last Wednesday against Lewis County and Preston County at the Stonewall Resort.

The Bucs won the three-team event with a 180 while Lewis County took second with a 182 and Preston finished third with a 207.

The Bucs took the second, third and fourth individual spots.

Brady Hurst finished second with a 42 while Isaac Lane placed third with a 42.

Evan Coffman was fourth with a 44.

Landon Hitt rounded out the scoring placing 10th with a 51.

Tucker Hurst shot a 56 and Brianna Morgan fired a 70 for non-scoring Bucs.

Lewis County’s Kole Bozic earned low medalist honors with a 40.

“We turned in a solid round,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Westfall. “I am excited for our direction, however, we still have a long way to go. The team has worked hard am I am proud of them. The energy in the program is great and the kids want to work on their game. I am happy that some of their hard work is showing in the scores.”

The Bucs will return to action today in a home match with Philip Barbour, Lincoln and Lewis County at 4 p.m.
