WHEELING – The Buckhannon-Upshur cheerleading squad recently competed in the Region I championships at Wheeling Park and the Big 10 Conference Championships at East Fairmont High School.

At the Region I championships, Wheeling Park won the regional title while Brooke was runner-up.

In the Big 10 Conference championships, Bridgeport was victorious while Robert C. Byrd took second place.

“We had an amazing showing at the Big 10 Conference Championships,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Christina Nestor. “The girls did a great job there. It was a big improvement. Even though we didn’t place where we wanted to, it was definitely a learning experience for the team in both the regional and Big 10 championship meets.”
