B-U boys and girls basketball boosters hold local golf scramble

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur boys and girls basketball boosters held their annual Buccaneer Golf Classic this past Saturday at the Buckhannon Country Club.

This was the seventh year of the event and the third year that the two boosters club have sponsored it jointly.

“The golf scramble is one of our main fundraisers,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur girl’s basketball booster president Brian Gaudet. “It just makes sense to partner up with the boy’s teams, which is something we have done for the last three years now. We split evenly the proceeds we earn from the golf scramble.”

This was the first year the event was held at the Buckhannon Country Club as 19 teams competed.

The winning foursome of the scramble was sponsored by Dr. Ron Pearson and consisted of Chris Brady, David Lee, Tony Louk and Gaudet.

Gaudet praised the local community for their support as the two boosters club had over 30 sponsors at different levels of giving for the event.

Gold sponsors for the tournament included Appalachian Mineral Title Co. L.L.C., Buckhannon Moose Lodge, Dr. Ron Pearson, High Point Construction, Mt. V Oil & Gas and Relaible Oil & Gas Transport.

Silver sponsors included Buckhannon Family Dental, Butera’s Italian Grill, Hank Ellis Insurance, Jenkins Ford, Sam’s Pizza, Sunset Graphics, Top Line Apparel and Weyerhaeuser.

Bronze sponsors were Buckhannon Toyota, Dr. Stephen  Jeran, Global Drone, J. F. Allen, Mike Ross, Ralph’s Furniture and Ron Hurst Construction Co. L.L.C.
