Arkansas man arrested after scuffle at Wendy's drive-thru

BUCKHANNON—An Arkansas man left the Kanawha Lounge on Monday evening, July 8 and traveled to the Wendy’s drive thru, the driver had to readjust the vehicle to get close enough to the drive thru window when 911 received a call for an intoxicated driver.

Jared Codie Barksdale, 46, of Hampton, Arkansas was intoxicated and driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer according to criminal complaint.

Officer Tyler Gordon of the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department had the driver pull into a parking spot in the Wendy’s parking lot and he then detected a strong odor of alcohol.

As Barksdale exited the vehicle, he was observed to be very unsteady from Gordon’s criminal report. Gordon administered three standard field sobriety tests and the driver was unsteady throughout all tests. Barksdale attempted to punch Officer Gordon in the head and was then taken into custody.

Barksdale actively resisted arrest and defied orders of Gordon and the assisting officer, Sgt. Posey of the Buckhannon Police Department. Barksdale is being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on obstructing, DUI of alcohol, and assault on a law enforcement officer, three misdemeanor charges. Barksdale is being held in lieu of $25,000 combined bond.
