BUCKHANNON — Like many others across the globe and around the community, Robie Messenger wants to make a difference. On Sunday, August 16, Pop’s Furniture Owner Robbie Messenger started a special Facebook page and TikTok titled, “ARK From The Heart Of WV.” This page was created to start a “kindness movement” around Central West Virginia, according to Messenger. He explained the page is intended to generate funds to help other people through random acts of kindness.
There are similar movements created through social media pages such as this one being shared across the country. Often, these pages have hundreds and thousands of followers. “I absolutely love watching the acts of random kindness on Facebook videos, TikTok videos, whatever it may be, and I really wanted to start a kindness movement around here,” he stated. Messenger explained it may be difficult to gain thousands of followers, but he would appreciate it if everyone would share the ARK From The Heart Of WV content that he will be posting as often as possible.
Messenger said he has always had a passion for helping others, with no expectation of anything in return. When going out to dinner with friends or family, he always tips well, typically at least 100% - or more if possible. “I love seeing the positive reactions that I get and really like to see the difference a small gesture can make in someone else’s life,” he explained.
Messenger selected the first recipient of his movement after having dinner at Garfield’s restaurant at the Meadowbrook Mall on August 15. He gave his server Ally a $101 tip that evening. Ally’s stunned reaction was captured on the video posted on the “ARK From The Heart Of WV” Facebook page and TikTok.
The money generated will be used for a variety of generous acts, such as purchasing food for the Parish House, giving tips, helping folks who have lost their home due to a fire, and much more. Regardless of the situation, 100% of the money will go directly towards blessing other people, Messenger stated.
To make a donation in support of ARK From The Heart Of WV’s random acts of kindness, follow the link to Messenger’s Venmo: https://venmo.com/code?user_id=2372163940122624956. If you do not have Venmo, donations can also be made through Facebook Messenger as well.
The Facebook page currently has 328 members and Messenger hopes the group continues to grow. As John Wesley once said, “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”
