Another accident at Childers Run Crossing elevates community concerns.

BUCKHANNON — The month of July has begun with two wrecks on the Route 33 Childers Run Crossing on the  Route 33 stretch of highway from the Huddle House to Childers Run Crossing. Shortly after noon on July 3, yet another two-vehicle accident occurred at Childers Run Crossing. Childers Run is a four-way intersection that has gained a great deal of attention in recent months, as the number of wrecks and accidents with fatalities continue to rise.

According to the most recent accident’s report, Dana Allen of French Creek was traveling southbound and struck a vehicle driven by Shelia Pumphrey of Buckhannon, who was traveling in the eastbound direction. Allen was entering the traffic lane and failed to yield the right-of-way when his vehicle struck Pumphrey’s oncoming SUV. It was reportedly unclear which direction Allen was trying to go.

The Buckhannon Police Department responded to the scene and Cpl. Marshall O’Connor was the investigating officer. The Upshur County EMS and Buckhannon Fire Department also responded to the emergency. No injuries
were reported at the scene or in the City of Buckhannon Police Report. Allen’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
