Animal outreach project offers “Spaytacular” Black Friday special

BUCKHANNON — A local non-profit that focuses on animal outreach is offering a “Spaytacular” Black Friday deal for cat owners in the area. Animal Outreach Project, Inc. receives over 3,000 applications a year requesting spay and neuter assistance. Since 2015, they have assisted in over 2,500 spays and neuters.

Due to the fact they’re a non-profit organization and rely solely on donations and grants, AOP isn’t always able to assist everyone, according to the founder and President of the organization, Cristy Loyd. AOP has received WV Department of Agriculture grant funding over the last few years and most recently received the Doris Day Animal Foundation grant.

This year during the Spaytacular sale, they’re offering $5 neuters and $10 spays, limited to one person per household. In order to be eligible for this Black Friday special, individuals must provide two proofs of income, with one being a form of government assistance that includes a pay stub, tax return, SSI statement, or benefit statement from the DHHR of the most current month. This special is one of several they run throughout the year, provided they have funding.

With only 10 spots available, individuals should express interest promptly, as the first 10 to apply with the required documents will receive the deal. To apply, send a message to the “Animal Outreach Project, Inc.” Facebook page. If you are one of the 10, appointments are non-refundable and will take place in Philippi during the month of December. Appointments may not be rescheduled.

Animal Outreach Project, Inc. works with three local vets including: All Creatures Great and Small in Elkins, Audubon Animal Clinic in Philippi, and Buckhannon Animal Clinic. They receive pet food donations from Eastern Pet Supply to assist individuals who are struggling to feed their pets. When flooding occurred a few years ago in other parts of the state, AOP donated food to local recues in those areas that experienced flooding.

If interested in donating, they have a secure donation section on their website https://www.aopwv.org/, through PayPal and Stripe. Animal Outreach Project, Inc. is currently operated by President Cristy Loyd, VP Samantha Atchison, and Secretary Marcella Garrison. If interested in volunteering, donating, or for more information about this Black Friday special, message their Facebook page “Animal Outreach Project, Inc.”
