Andy Lynn Heater

Andy Lynn Heater, 71, of Hodgesville, WV, departed this life on December 11, 2021, surrounded by his family after a long and hard fight against COPD. He was born in Abilene, Kansas on February 21, 1950 to the late William Franklin Heater and Katherine Isabelle Walton Heater.

On September 9, 1972, Andy was united in marriage to Karen Melvina Chapman, who survives. Throughout their 49 years of marriage, they created a legacy you only hear about in the movies.

Andy is survived by his wife, Karen; three daughters Rhonda and husband Junior Knight, Katherine Bachman and partner Andrew Marple, and Deanna and husband Frank Moore; eight grandchildren: Tiffany and Brandy Bachman of Hodgesville, Bradley Knight of Horner, Heather and Ashley Haddix of French Creek, and Jenna, Tobias, and Elyana Marple of Buckhannon. Andy is also survived by sisters, Sylvia Burdette and Judy Ciukowski; aunt, Joy Loudin; countless nieces, nephews, and very special friends: Shaun, Caryn, and Electa Woofter, Zach, Brittany and Lilly Leggett and Rondal Allen.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Heater Dever, and his parents-in-law, Clyde Chapman and Goldie McCartney Chapman.

Mr. Heater was a carpenter by trade and by hobby. He enjoyed building things for his family, such as porch swings for his daughters and dog houses for his grandkids. He loved his family more than anything in the world and enjoyed spending all the time he could with them, whether it be family dinners, vacations or random Saturdays watching westerns on the couch. He enjoyed the outdoors, including riding four wheelers, but his newest and arguably most comical hobby was messing with telemarketers when they called the house.

Mr. Heater will be missed by all of those who knew him. Friends will be received Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Buckhannon. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with Bishop Ron Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Church Cemetery in Canaan, WV.

Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
