Adcock collects ninth multi-goal game of 2022

BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats lacrosse team (3-10, 0-7 MEC) fell to Frostburg State (8-6, 6-1 MEC) last week on Wednesday, April 27 at Ross Field. 

Freshman Emma Adcock scored three goals and sophomore Kaitlyn Canby netted her 17th goal of the season. Adcock collected four ground balls and caused one turnover. Canby and freshman Isabella Verona both caused a turnover. Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Wroe made 16 saves. 

The duo of Stephanie King and Julia Badolato ended the evening as the leading scorers for Frostburg State, with both coming away with hat tricks. Lilly Stephens, Brittyn Leonard and Lindsay Kohlmann all dished out a pair of assists. Anna Kearney picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers. Nicole Gray made four saves and was credited the win. 

The visitors started out of the gate on a tear and scored the first nine goals of the game. Frostburg State outscored WVWC 9-0 in the first quarter. Adcock capitalized on a free position shot and put Wesleyan on the board with 12:05 in the second quarter. Frostburg State kept rolling and built a 13-1 lead after a half of play. 

Frostburg State added four goals in the third quarter to take a 16-point lead. Adcock scored her second goal of the afternoon to open up the final quarter of play. Canby scored with 5:09 left in the contest. Adcock completed the hat trick with an unassisted goal at the 2:53 mark of the fourth quarter. Frostburg State came out on top, 19-4.
