Adaland Mansion hosting traditional tea

The two High Teas planned at Adaland Mansion this season will feature a festive focus for participants. The historic mansion is a destination of many tourists and history buffs.

“Specialty teas are our specialty!” according to an Adaland Mansion spokesperson.  And the 2019 season at the historic home has added two more teas to its usual calendar of events.

A new twist on the traditional Royal Tea at Adaland will be the serving of the 5 p.m. tea on the side yard pavilion instead of in the house.  While the table setting will be similar to the one in the picture above, the royal blue table ware will be set on the pavilion so guests may enjoy a beautiful early summer sunset from the Adaland hilltop.

For new and returning guests who enjoy the leisurely pace of the 5:00 hour for tea, Adaland offers this year’s inaugural Sunset Tea on Sunday, June 29.  Tea hostesses are exploring new recipes for the five-course tea which will consist of scones, savories, fresh fruit and cheeses, tea sandwiches, pastries, and the ever-present pot of hot tea.  Because this specialty tea offering is a royal tea, Adaland will also offer guests a complimentary glass of champagne.

Reservations for the June 29 Sunset Tea and for all Adaland teas may be made by calling 304-457-2415.

The two High Teas at Adaland this season will feature a festive focus.  One Saturday, October 19, guests are invited to a West Virginia Heritage Tea which will spotlight the 35th state and the county of Barbour.  Tea hostesses for

this event have promised to serve special tastes of West Virginia.  Reservations for this October 19 tea at 2 p.m. may be made at the aforementioned number.

Saturday, November 30 at 2 p.m. Adaland will host a Christmas High Tea.  By this date, the 1870 home will be festooned in her Christmas finery setting a festive atmosphere for the season’s second high tea.  The Christmas High Tea will capitalize on the season and its tastes drawing on traditional spices and some surprises to delight the guests to the afternoon tea.

In mid-season, Adaland will host a Children’s Tea on the Pavilion.  This Saturday, July 20 event at 2 p.m. is in response to the many requests Adaland has received for a children’s tea.  Adults are welcome to this tea that will feature foods for children, whimsical table decorations, fun activities, and story sharing on the pavilion.  Seating is limited for this tea so early reservations are recommended.
