2021 B-UHS graduate receives Army Achievement Medal

BUCKHANNON — Buckhannon-Upshur High School graduate Nathan Allen recently received an Army Achievement Medal. He is the son of Robert Allen, Retired MAJ and Jodi Allen, of Buckhannon, West Virginia.

Allen was selected from over 150 Army Basic Trainees as the Honor Graduate Recipient. Allen was in Basic Combat Training in Fort Leonardwood, Mo. with Charlie Company 1- 48 Infantry Battalion from November 29, 2021, to February 24, 2022. Private Allen was selected second to his discipline, initiative, esprit de corp and perseverance, which was far beyond his peers. Therefore, he received the COL Mark Foreman Award of Excellence from the 1st Battalion, 48th Infantry Regiment.

Allen will be heading to Fort Lee, Va. to complete advanced individual training as an Automated Logistics Specialist (92A). Following the completion of this training, Allen will return to Buckhannon with plans to follow in his father’s footsteps, working full-time in the West Virginia Army National Guard. Allen is also planning to attend Fairmont State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Allen will be assigned to the Delta Company of the 230th Brigade Support Battalion, located in Beckley, W. Va. when he returns.
